              Elane is a retired materials scientist (35 years) and professional photographer (32 years).
           Work history:
  • Ames Laboratory (Department of Energy) at Iowa State University, 1972, Junior Physicist. Research in experimental crystal growth.
  • Bell Laboratories (AT&T, Lucent & now Nokia), Murray Hill, NJ, Member of Technical Staff, 1972 – 1998.  Research contributed to the understanding of materials physics of amorphous metals.  Developed chemical engineering processes used in manufacturing electronic materials.
  • Senior Process Engineer at Structured Materials Industries, Inc. (SMI), Piscataway, NJ, 2007 – 2014
  • Technical recruiter for Bell Labs regular employment and special programs at HBCUs from 1974 – 1988.
  •  Author/co-author of over 60 peer-reviewed technical publications and professional conference presentations.
  • One patent pending in the field of Memristive Switching Memory.
  • Was a member of the Bell Labs Research Division’s Recruiter’s Advisory Council, Special Program Selection Committee, and Chairman of the Area 20 Affirmative Action Advisory Council during his career at the Labs.
  • In 1997 he was awarded the Research Division’s Affirmative Action Award “in recognition of outstanding contributions to the advancement of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity” by the vice-president of research.
  • Freelance photographer 1985 – 2020, major clients: Rutgers University Athletics, Lower East Side Service (NYC), New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, Princeton Packet, New Jersey Athletic Trainers Association, Princeton Packet Publications Group, The Africa Society, Milan Rose Studio.
