Outstanding Young Alumnus of the Year

Kisa Kianna Harris is a 2015 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Tougaloo College where she received the Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. In 2016, Kisa received the Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Currently, Kisa is a second-year student in the Population Health Science doctoral program in the John D. Bower School of Population Health at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Kisa holds memberships in several organizations including: the Clinton (MS) Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; the Clinton Chapter of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; the Jackson-Tougaloo Alumni Chapter; the Tougaloo College National Alumni Association; the American Public Health Association; the American Heart Association; the Mississippi Public Health Association the Interdisciplinary Association for Population Health Science; the American Evaluation Association; and Girl Scouts of America. She serves as 3rd Vice President in the Metro Jackson Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women. Kisa is a member of Farish Street Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi where she plays violin in the String Ensemble, acts as Chaplain for the Young Matrons Auxiliary, serves as Vice President of the Intergenerational Gospel Choir, and leads the Sunday School class for college students.

Kisa is employed by the Jackson Heart Study Undergraduate Training and Education Center at Tougaloo College as a Biostatistics/Epidemiology Instructor-Researcher. Kisa is course instructor for “Research Methods in Public Health and Epidemiology” (NSD 311) at Tougaloo College. She also coordinates the Jackson Heart Study Science, Language Arts, and Mathematics (SLAM) program for high school students, held each summer on the campus of Tougaloo College.

Kisa is a life member of the Tougaloo College National Alumni Association and serves as Assistant Secretary in the Jackson-Tougaloo Alumni Chapter. She serves as one of the class agents for the Tougaloo College Class of 2015. In 2018, Kisa was recognized as the Jackson-Tougaloo Alumni Chapter Alumna of the Year.
