Tougaloo College National Alumni Association's 2025-26 Alumnus of the Year

Dr. Ro’chelle Williams is a dedicated educator and advocate for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tougaloo College in 2014, a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Southern New Hampshire University in 2017, and a Doctorate of Education from Maryville University in 2023.

A lifelong supporter of Tougaloo College, Dr. Williams is an active Life Member of the Tougaloo College National Alumni Association (TCNAA). He was first elected National Secretary in 2021 and reelected in 2024. His leadership extends to chairing the Hall of Fame (2019-2021, 2024), during which fundraising efforts saw consecutive growth. He also served as Northeast Regional Representative and Secretary to the Board of Directors (2019-2021). Currently, he contributes as a member of the IT Committee and the Tougaloo Alumni Bulletin (TAB) Committee, where he serves as Web Publisher.

As an esteemed member of the Washington Area Tougaloo Alumni Chapter, Dr. Williams assumed the presidency following the remarkable 25-year tenure of Kathy Mosely. Under his leadership, the chapter has continued to thrive, launching a new website (www.watactc.org) to enhance alumni engagement and support for Tougaloo College. During his first term as president, the chapter celebrated the 32nd annual Mississippi on the Potomac Celebration, which saw a record-breaking fundraising after a four-year hiatus of in-person events.

Beyond his contributions to Tougaloo College, TCNAA and WATAC, Dr. Williams serves on Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Consortium and the National Alumni Council of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). His dedication has earned him prestigious honors, including the 2024 TCNAA Presidential Exemplary Service Award and recognition as the 2019 UNCF Young Alumnus of the Year. In 2016, he was inducted into Tougaloo College’s Inaugural Top 30 Under 30 Class. Later this year, he will serve as an Honorary Chair for the UNCF Gala Noir.

Dr. Williams currently resides in Washington, DC and works at the National Education Association, advancing educational access and equity and supporting the legacy and future of TCNAA and Tougaloo College.
